Afternoon Tea: Rosewood, London

Afternoon Tea: Rosewood, London

This afternoon tea was to celebrate our 10th anniversary and went some way to making up for having to stay in the UK for it. This and the equally extravagant meal the night before in Rabot 1745 of course!

People will have to go a long way to reach the sparkling heights of the Afternoon Tea in Hong Kong’s Intercontinental Hotel (twice) or Tokyo’s Aman Hotel. And at Rosewood they did go a long way and charged way more. It was the most amount of sweet things I’ve seen served. Everything was exquisite, full of surprises and quirks. Rosewood being an art-focused hotel, it’s unsurprising that the spread of delights before us were all little works of art.

The surroundings were as luxurious as you’d expect and the place was oh so quiet, yet, in the heart of London. Rosewood is the proverbial haven away from the city noise and the service lived up to the promise. They even bought out a wonderful little cake with a candle for us. Unlike in Tokyo, we knew we’d be taking away a fair few cakes to have later/for tomorrow’s breakfast so planned to eat the one’s that were less likely to travel well. Even though I was full to bursting with Marco Polo tea - first discovered at the Intercontinental - as well as the food, I knew I would feel differently come the night. And I did.

Much like Fortnum’s earlier in the summer, Rosewoods provided a wonderful experience all around.
