View from the Room: Hotel Wolf Dietrich, Salzburg
Location - Perfect. On a side street ut 10 seconds from the main shopping street leading to the river and old town
Style/character - Billed as romantic, we thought quirky. It is the latter! As you will see from the photos, The Magic Flute room looks scrumptious.
Service - A little aloof but reception always manned and courteous.
Room - Lovely looking but endless issues! The lights were pretty and everywhere, including the headboard and above the glittery bathroom ceiling but they wer oh so fiddly to get to the adequate level of brightness. In our 3 nights, we never figured out which lights lit which bulb! The bath in lounge meant splashes from the hand-held shower with water trickling towards the sockets. with the lights. The hotel wouldn't switch on the towel rail (in November) so we couldn't dry towels and they would only give us 2 small ones a day. The result was using damp ones if we had and extra shower before dinner (resulting in aforementioned water splashing into the lounge) and had to have new ones every day. There's a dressing area without a light and very few hangers. They happily bought us more, but they were wire ones, which I have a strange phobia against but in any case, they are no good for clothes, so we laid everything flat on the shelves
Food & drink - complimentary (bad) coffee & tea in the cosy lounge every afternoon. The breakfast buffet was adequate.
Value - Ok in terms of location but average for facilities and service. There is nothing romantic about faffing about with lights, water leaking, dark dressing rooms and damp towels!
Access It's a small hotel so the stairs are fine. If you need a lift, it fits 4 but 2 if there's luggage.
We popped into a nearby hotel to buy a Welcome Card as this one didn't offer it. If I was to go again, I'd probably stay in that friendly one which I imagined to have plentiful dry towels and lights that worked at first touch!
