For our last night in New Zealand, we picked somewhere roomy so we had space to re-pack our cases for the long trip home and be able to relax with home comforts. We also picked somewhere with a washing machine dryer so we could potentially do some last bit of laundry rather than return home with lots of washing to do.

Whilst our suite was large it was far from homely. The lounge was big but lacking in comfort. The bedroom was fine although had no drawers and most disappointing was the large bathroom with its double shower, a washing machine and dryer but no bath. Hotels in New Zealand are few and pricey and so I’d succumbed to the lack of bathtub for our last night in the country as it just wasn’t good value to have a fancy hotel just to have a couple of baths. And we knew the Kempinski in Shanghai would make up for it (it did)

We arrived mid-morning and were surprised a hotel this size could not accommodate us earlier but there was plenty of space in the quiet lobby for us to re-organise our luggage so we leave everything behind and head out for our last day to explore Auckland. They gladly looked after our luggage until the afternoon check-in time the afternoon time.

Bathroom

The washing machine and dryer housed in here with instructions to also have an extractor on to run this resulting in a very noisy room. Definitely uncomfortable to use the large shower while it was on!

Storage

Wardrobe in the bedroom but no drawers anywhere which mean despite the size of the suite, it doesn’t suit a long-term stay. There were ten plastic hangers that had seen better days.

The bedroom is small although with a comfortable bed and our suite had nice views and good overhead lighting in the lounge.
